Technological Capabilities in Endovascular Surgery Interventional endovascular surgery (interventional radiology) is a highly versatile, inherently multidisciplinary specialty that encompasses virtually all areas of clinical medicine, from cardiovascular diseases to oncology. Today, dozens and even hundreds of effective interventional techniques are used in endovascular surgery, while numerous technological innovations and new approaches are introduced into catheterization laboratory practice every year. Some of these techniques have no viable alternatives and require a high level of expertise and surgical skill. The specialty is undergoing a rapid transformation: the transition to minimally invasive technologies is fundamentally changing approaches to the treatment of cardiovascular and oncological diseases. The field has made a tremendous leap forward — from basic angioplasty to complex hybrid procedures involving robotic systems and neural networks.
During the session, experts will discuss the innovations shaping the future of the field. Particular attention will be paid to robotic systems and artificial intelligence, which enable unprecedented precision in interventions involving the smallest vessels; next-generation implants; and intraoperative navigation based on 3D modeling and augmented reality using state-of-the-art angiography systems. Experts will explore the potential for introducing new intervention techniques targeting both the arterial and lymphatic systems, as well as the development of new centers equipped with hybrid operating rooms to advance interventional procedures for the lymphatic system.
A key strategic focus of the discussion will be Russian-Chinese cooperation. Joint research, localization of medical equipment production, and the development of common clinical protocols could become key drivers of global progress in endovascular surgery and interventional radiology.
