Academic exchange with China: Kazan and Changshu schools signed a cooperation agreement

This week a Chinese delegation from the secondary school of Hunan Pedagogical University (Changsha) visited Kazan Gymnasium No. 183. The honorary guests headed by the school director Mr. Shie Yonghong visited the lessons of Chinese and Russian languages, various workshops and tours.

The culmination of the meeting was the signing of a cooperation agreement: in the next 5 years the schools will exchange students and teachers for educational and cultural cooperation and strengthening of friendly relations.

It is worth noting that the schools have already been cooperating for more than 5 years: joint online lessons and internships in English and Chinese are regularly held. This is bearing fruit: for the last three years Kazan gymnasium students have become winners of school Olympiads and international competitions in Chinese.

In general, interest in the language of the Celestial Empire in Tatarstan is growing every year: for example, last academic year more than 2000 school students chose Chinese, which is 16% more than the year before. Today, Chinese lessons are taught in 16 municipal schools in Kazan - many of them actively cooperate with native speakers.

On November 14, the Russia-China Forum will feature a series of sessions dedicated to cooperation in education. Participants will learn about successful cases and discuss the importance of school exchanges as an effective tool for strengthening inter-municipal cooperation.
