Kazan and Wuhan Signed Memorandum of Intent on Cooperation

As part of the International Forum “SPROUTS: Russia and China – Mutually Beneficial Cooperation”, Kazan and Wuhan signed a Memorandum of Intent on cooperation. The document provides for collaboration in the fields of the economy, culture, education and tourism.

The memorandum was signed by Evgenia Lodvigova, Deputy Head of the Municipality of Kazan, and Chen Yueqing, Deputy Chair of the Wuhan Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.

During the meeting, the Chinese delegation expressed its readiness to develop joint business initiatives and to exchange expertise in IT and education. Kazan was also invited to take part in the “Twin Cities Mayors’ Week”, which will be held in Wuhan next year.

The parties additionally signed a memorandum of intent to establish twin city relations between Kazan and Wuhan. This document represents the first official step towards a full sister-city partnership. The next stage is expected to be a meeting between the mayors of the two cities and the signing of a formal agreement.
