On November 21, a large-scale exhibition “Chinese Collections of Russian Museums” will be opened at the National Museum of Tatarstan. The guests of the exhibition will see more than 20,000 unique objects of different eras from major federal and international museums of Russia. Among them there are monuments of Buddhist art, thangka paintings, Chinese floor vases and bronzes from different Qin and Ming eras.
Among the rare artefacts there will be an altar statuette “Triad of Buddha Mile”, found in Buryatia in 1927: the object belongs to the early Buddhist sculpture of China, reflects Buddhist traditions and the deep connection between the past and the present.
“This is an unprecedented story. Projects of this scale have never happened before. Both the BRICS summit and the cross-cultural year of Russia and China have converged here,” notes Alisa Vyatkina, Director General of the Museum of Tatarstan.
It will be possible to get even better acquainted with the rich cultural heritage of the Celestial Empire at the “Russia-China” forum on November 13-15.
