Russia and China Have Opportunities for Cooperation in the Field of Small Mechanical Equipment

The Russian Federation has prospects for cooperation with the People's Republic of China in the field of small mechanical equipment, stated Oleg Moskovsky, President of the Interregional Specialized Equipment Exchange “Moscow – Beijing” and Head of the Russia-China Strategic Partnership Council in Mechanical Engineering, during the III International Forum “SPROUTS: Russia and China – Mutually Beneficial Cooperation”. He noted that there is a shortage of equipment in the country that would, for example, assist in maintaining lawns, sidewalks, and public spaces.

“For the past 20-25 years, issues of localization in the automotive industry have been both theorized and put into practice. Our country and the automotive industry have gained extensive experience working with foreign partners. Today, this experience has been consolidated; specific requirements and mechanisms for ensuring localization have been developed not just on paper, but in practice. This information was presented to our Chinese colleagues. We are open to cooperation,” said Sergey Shishanov, Head of the Department for Cooperation with Industrial and Educational Partners at the NAMI State Research Center.

He reminded that Tatarstan currently houses both vehicle assembly plants and large pools and clusters of automotive component suppliers. According to him, the republic is one of the leading regions in Russia in automotive manufacturing.

“The Russia-China Strategic Partnership Council in Mechanical Engineering was established with the support of the Republic of Tatarstan represented by the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency. Every effort has been made to ensure that Tatarstan becomes a leader in mechanical engineering and localization,” added Moskovsky.
