“China Mondays”: Preparing for the International Forum “SPROUTS: Russia and China – Mutually Beneficial Cooperation”

In the run-up to the IV International Forum “SPROUTS: Russia and China – Mutually Beneficial Cooperation”, the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency has launched a new educational initiative entitled “Chinese Mondays”. Running weekly until early August, the sessions bring together employees of the Agency and the Directorate for International Programmes.

Each meeting focuses on a different Chinese province, exploring its economic profile, investment potential, culture, traditions and history. The initiative is designed to deepen participants' understanding of the regions with which Tatarstan is developing cooperation, helping to build more effective and meaningful dialogue with Chinese partners.

“*Chinese Mondays* were originally created to broaden our knowledge of China. We need to understand the distinctive characteristics of the provinces we engage with and be able to connect with our partners on the same wavelength,” said Insaf Galiev, First Deputy Head of the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency.

During the latest session, participants learned which Chinese province borders three neighbouring countries, where the traditional Chinese tea ceremony originated, and which region hosts one of China's largest annual international investment fairs.

“China is a vast country, and it is important to understand the unique characteristics of each region. It is precisely these details that help us communicate more effectively with our partners. I was particularly fascinated by the history of Macau and the fact that its official languages are Chinese and Portuguese, reflecting its status as a Portuguese colony until the end of the twentieth century,” said Luiza Mukhametzyanova, Project Manager at the Directorate for International Programmes.

“Chinese Mondays” have become an integral part of the team's preparations for the International Forum “SPROUTS: Russia and China – Mutually Beneficial Cooperation”, further strengthening business and people-to-people ties between the Republic of Tatarstan and China.

The operator for the preparation and hosting the “SPROUTS” Forum is the ANO “Directorate of International Programmes”
