Export-import railway transportation between Russia and China passed 30 million tons

From January to September 2024, 30.7 million tons of goods were transported by rail through the border crossings between Russia and China. Goods were sent both for import and export, according to Russian Railways.


▫️Mainly coal and iron ore were exported to China. Over the past nine months the most cargo transported via the Zabaikalsk-Manchuria border crossing. It handled 15.3 million tons of cargo, which is 7.6% more than last year. Coal accounted for 5.6 million tons (+25.7%), and ore - 3.6 million tons (+19.3%).


▫️Transportation is also carried out through the Grodekovo-Suifenhe border crossing. 6.3 million tons of cargoes (+3.4%) were accepted there. The main resource for export was coal - 2.9 million tons (1.6 times growth).

▫️ Two more border crossings used by Russian Railways - Nizhneleninskoye - Tongjiang and Kamyshovaya – Hunchun - operates at the Russia-China border. Freight transportation there grew 1.8 and 1.5 times, respectively.

▫️In total, 28.7 million tons of various cargoes exported from January to September. The volume of transportation grew by 17.4%. Taking into account the import indicators, the figure reaches 30.7 million tons. Together, the growth is 15.7%, compared to the results of the same period in 2023.
