The International Russian-Chinese Winter Sports Festival #ZimFestAmur, a large-scale platform for cooperation between Russia and China, which united sports and culture on the ice of the Amur River, has come to an end in Blagoveshchensk. Over the course of two days, spectators witnessed hockey matches, car races, winter swimming competitions, and a rich cultural programme, and the festival once again confirmed its status as the event that strengthens interregional ties between the two countries.
The performance of two-time world figure skating champion Evgenia Medvedeva, who presented the "Anna Karenina" programme on the border between Russia and China became a highlight of the second day.
This year, the festival expanded its format by introducing a guest region from Russia, the Republic of Tatarstan, and a guest province from China, Anhui. The delegation was led by Rustam Minnikhanov, the Rais of Tatarstan, who personally drove a KAMAZ-master truck during one of the races. Young Ak Bure hockey players visited Heihe, got acquainted with the sports infrastructure of the city and took part in a master class on traditional Chinese painting.
A hockey match between the teams of the Republic of Tatarstan and Heilongjiang Province also took place on the ice of the Amur River - the meeting ended with a score of 4:4. In the winter swimming competition, the Tatarstan team won the relay race.
Tatarstan's participation gave the festival a special emphasis on interregional partnership. #ZimFestAmur has once again become an example of how sports and culture are forming sustainable ties between the regions of Russia and China - in the logic of open dialogue and mutual trust.
