The travel reality show Viva La Romance has been broadcast in China for eight years. This season, for the first time, its stars - four well-known Chinese families - travelled to Russia. Their itinerary included Moscow, St Petersburg and the Murmansk Region. The pilot episode alone attracted 105 million views.
One of the programme's key filming locations was the Murmansk Region, with production supported by the region's Ministry of Tourism and Entrepreneurship. Over several days, the participants explored Murmansk and experienced life in Russia's Arctic North.
“We expect a new influx of visitors from the Celestial Empire to the Murmansk Region as early as this coming winter, because we live in a place that many people dream of visiting,” the Murmansk Region Ministry of Tourism and Entrepreneurship commented.
The programme is broadcast on Mango TV, one of China's largest online video streaming platforms. Searches related to Viva La Romance have ranked among the most popular search queries on Chinese digital platforms on more than 2,000 occasions.
