SPROUTS Forum Hosted its First Charity Golf Tournament

On August 17, in Kazan, as a part of the III International Forum “SPROUTS: Russia and China – Mutually Beneficial Cooperation”, a charity golf tournament for the Rais (Head) Cup of the Republic of Tatarstan was held. This event was included in the business forum's cultural and sports program for the first time.

The Minister of Sports of Tatarstan, Vladimir Leonov, told that the charity tournament attracts over 100 participants annually. This year, the participants included two teams from China and one team from Belarus.

“We are delighted to hold the Rais Cup of Tatarstan charity golf tournament for the fifteenth consecutive year. The tournament's status has grown; now it is a full-fledged international competition. We have everything needed to show an excellent result,” Leonov said.

The team stage of the tournament was held at the Ak Bars Golf Club. All funds raised during the event will be directed to the Family Together (Semya Vmeste) charitable foundation, which supports families raising children with severe illnesses.

“Golf is a very important sport for the foundation because it allows businesspeople, who are interested in it, to spend a wonderful 5-6 hours in nature. During this time, while working as a team on the course, they can solve important business issues and, in doing so, support the charitable foundation,” said Ekaterina Myslitskaya, General Director of the Family Together charitable foundation.

Airat Farrakhov, State Duma deputy, believes that golf will develop actively in Russia. According to him, this sport is currently practiced by approximately 5,000 Russians.

“The more people engage in this sport, the more they are involved in it at various venues, the more healthy people there will be. It is very important to popularize golf,” stated Farrakhov.

He reminded that last year in Kazan, charitable donations made it possible to open a nine-hole golf course on the territory of the Natasha hospice. It is intended for the rehabilitation of children with disabilities and patients with severe illnesses.

As a part of the team stage of the XV Rais Cup of Tatarstan Charity Golf Tournament, free golf master classes were also held for participants of the SPROUTS Forum and guests of the competitions. The event concluded with an official awards ceremony.

In the team competitions, first place with a score of 126.2 points was taken by the Timerkhan team (players: Alexandra Chekalina, Abubakr Khasainov, Bulent Karatas, Ivan Egorov). Second place with a score of 126.9 points went to the Alga team (players: Nazar Yusupov, Guzel Yusupova, Maxim Kotov, Ayrat Shafigullin). Third place with a score of 127.2 points was taken by the Tatarstan 1 team (Denis Pyatinin, Rustam Minnikhanov, Anvar Akhmetov, Askhat Gumerov).
