On 16-19 August, Kazan will host the 4th International Forum “SPROUTS: Russia and China – Mutually Beneficial Cooperation”. In addition to the extensive business programme, the Forum participants and guests will enjoy rich cultural programme that will introduce Russian and Chinese audiences to the traditions, contemporary art, and historical heritage of these two countries. Highlights will include performances of classical fragments of Sichuan Opera from China and a performance staged by Tatarstan artists in China.
On 17 and 18 August, Sichuan Opera artists will perform “Chuan Yun Dong Fang” on the stage of the new Galiasgar Kamal Tatar State Academic Theatre. One of the oldest forms of Chinese theatre, and one of the most important elements of China’s intangible cultural heritage, this performance will introduce audience to the centuries-old traditions of the Chinese stage, its unique dance, music, and acting.
The play directed by the “Alif” association (director Tufan Imamutdinov, choreographer Nurbek Batulla and dancer Marcel Nuriev) at the MOÑ theatre venue (one of the most notable cultural projects of this year) will become another significant event. The performance will present a current view of national culture to the audience through the language of modern theatre and will become a kind of creative dialogue between traditions and a new generation of audience.
It is symbolic that these two performances representing different cultural traditions and artistic schools will become key events during the Forum. Through the language of art, they will foster a better understanding of each other, opening up new opportunities for humanitarian cooperation between Russia and China.
The Forum’s cultural programme also includes Chinese Films Days at the “Mir” cinema, as well as large-scale exhibitions at the Kazan Kremlin, the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan, and the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan, dedicated to the history, art, and cultural heritage of the peoples of Russia. Guests will be offered tours of Kazan’s iconic cultural sites, including the new Galiasgar Kamal Theatre building, the National Library of Tatarstan, and the Centre for Unique Craftsmanship.
The SPROUTS Forum traditionally serves as a platform not only for developing business ties but also for strengthening humanitarian cooperation.
