Russian Presidential Representative Viktor Zubkov Visits South China’s Hainan Province

Viktor Zubkov, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Co-operation with the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) and Chairman of the Board of Directors at Gazprom, visited the annual conference of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) and took part in the Meeting of the Board of Directors of this dialogue platform. Together with his colleagues amongst the BFA leadership, Zubkov was received by Ding Xuexiang, Vice Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, and had a separate meeting with Zhang Jun, Secretary General of the BFA.

During the Forum discussions, Zubkov emphasised the unprecedentedly high level of Russian-Chinese relations, noting the prospects for expanding bilateral practical co-operation with a focus on the energy sector, including natural gas trade.

For their part, Zubkov’s Forum partners reaffirmed the BFA’s commitment to the ideas of multipolarity and mutually beneficial economic globalisation, as well as the orientation towards overcoming the challenges facing the world economy to ensure sustainable development for all. The initiative to deepen engagement with Russia and keenness to further promote the participation of Russian representatives of the business and expert community in the work of the dialogue association were especially noticeable.
