Russian cultural education: an online school of Russian culture will be launched in China

It is often difficult for the Chinese public to perceive Russian and European art because of the difference in artistic and cultural traditions. For example, it is difficult to pick up the uniqueness of the numerous temples and monasteries without knowledge of the history and art of Early Russia, and it is difficult to understand the depth of the works of the Hermitage and the Tretyakov Gallery without knowledge of the history of Russian art.

The demand for such knowledge is growing in China, including in connection with the development of tourism and cultural exchange. This autumn, as part of the Cross Cultural Years of Russia and China, the Celestial Empire will host large-scale tours of Russian art: cultural events have been prepared by the Tretyakov Gallery, the Bolshoi Theatre, musicAeterna and the Boris Eifman Ballet Theatre.

The Rossotrudnichestvo (Federal Agency for Affairs of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Residing Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation) representative office in China plans to launch an online school of Russian culture from the beginning of 2025, which will allow Chinese citizens to perceive works of European art in a wiser and more meaningful way. The video course will provide everyone with fundamental knowledge of opera, painting, literature and other art forms in Russia.

The first results and prospects of the Cross Cultural Years of Russia and China will be discussed on November 13-15 at Rostki international forum.
