China adopts proposals for five‑year development programme

The four‑day 4th Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China has concluded in Beijing.

The session resulted in the adoption of proposals for developing the 15th Five‑Year Programme for National Economic and Social Development, Xinhua News Agency reports.

The main goals of China’s next five‑year programme are: raising the level of scientific and technological self‑reliance; improving societal civility; continuously enhancing the quality of life for the people; achieving new advances in building a “Beautiful China”; strengthening the reliability of national security; establishing a modern industrial system; reinforcing the real sector of the economy; expanding openness to the outside world and mutually beneficial cooperation; accelerating the modernisation of agriculture and rural areas.
