A meeting of the organizing committee for the preparation and holding of the International Forum "ROSTKI: Russia and China - mutually beneficial cooperation" was held today in the Government House of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The meeting was held by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan Alexey Pesoshin. The event was attended by the Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Kazan Mr. Xiang Bo.
It should be reminded that the Republican Organizing Committee, headed by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan Alexei Pesoshin, was created to prepare and hold the forum.
Opening the meeting of the organizing committee, Alexei Pesoshin reminded that today Russian-Chinese relations are developing in all directions, including at the regional level. The most important are such areas as supplies of petrochemical products, high-tech ties, attraction of Chinese companies to special economic zones and others.
According to the results of 2022, the trade turnover between Tatarstan and China increased by more than 58% and amounted to more than 1.6 billion U.S. dollars, said Alexei Pesoshin.
As for the forum itself, it is scheduled for September 7-8, 2023. The venue will be the Kazan-Expo International Exhibition Center. It is expected that the forum will be attended by more than 3 thousand people. About 40 business sessions will be organized in different areas.
During the meeting of the organizing committee it was emphasized that the Republic of Tatarstan has a great experience of working with Chinese provinces and acts as a platform and the main organizer of the forum.
Talia Minullina, Head of the Investment Development Agency of the Republic of Tatarstan, Secretary of the Organizing Committee, made a report on the business program of the forum. In particular, she noted that on September 7, Kazan with the participation of Chinese colleagues will also host the Forum uniting cities (responsible - Kazan Mayor's Office), where the sessions "City diplomacy as an important factor in the development of modern international relations", "Sister cities and expanding horizons, successful experience and new goals" are planned.
Within the framework of the forum "ROSTKI: Russia and China - mutually beneficial cooperation" such sessions and business meetings as "Practical aspects of Russian-Chinese business cooperation", "Russia - China: rapprochement through congress and exhibition activities", "How Russian small and medium-sized enterprises can enter the PRC market", etc. are planned.
One of the important directions will be the topic of transportation and logistics. In this block within the framework of the forum "ROSTKI" will be held discussions on "New Silk Road: implementation of the project outside the territory of the Russian Federation and the impact on the global economy", "Electric transport: increasing role for the world ecology and opportunities for cooperation".
Mr. Xiang Bo, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Kazan, speaking at the organizing committee, stressed that today cooperation with China is developing in a number of areas. The Consul General said that he supports the ROSTKI forum and expressed confidence that it will play an important role in interregional relations. We are involved in its preparation and have already sent invitations to all provinces, Mr. Xiang Bo said. He reminded that in 2024 Kazan is also planned to host the BRICS summit, and this also opens new opportunities for relations and ties with Tatarstan.

"China is a strategic partner of our country," he said. - The main task is to hold the forum at the highest level, to show Tatarstan's capabilities and worthy level".
Rustam Minnikhanov instructed to provide all the necessary work for visa and customs escort of foreign guests, meetings at the airport, check-in at hotels, also to ensure the necessary security measures during the events.
