China is a promising market for Russian business from the perspective of marketplaces. This was announced during the III International Forum “SPROUTS: Russia and China – Mutually Beneficial Cooperation” by Anastasia Nasedkina, CEO of Mates China, the digital marketing agency in China.
“There is an opportunity to consider the challenging but offering immense potential Chinese market, where Russian goods are certainly in demand and can sell well. But it is important to take into account many different cultural specifics and preferences that exist in China. This is why the SPROUTS Forum is needed, because it helps Russian entrepreneurs not only find out what new business opportunities there are, but also understand how they can take advantage of them,” Nasedkina said.
Sun Tianshu, founder of the QIFA Russian-Chinese digital trade platform and Chairman of the Board of Directors of PJSC QIFA, reminded that the trade turnover between the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China exceeded $244.8 billion at year-end 2024. A significant share of exports from Russia is raw materials and natural resources, but other Russian products are also in demand in China.
“As for goods related to our life, food products from Russia, the volume of imports into China exceeded $30 billion. This is significant development compared to previous years. We see that Russian food products are in great demand. SPROUTS is a useful platform for developing trade and economic relations between Russia and China. We believe that more such events should be held both in Russia and in China,” said Sun Tianshu.
According to him, the goal is to make it so that every Russian entrepreneur can effectively and conveniently conduct trade with China. This will allow Russian products to be distributed throughout the People's Republic of China.
“The challenges the trade between Russia and China may face are related to payments, because the SWIFT payment system cannot be used now as it was before. Another challenge is the time it takes to transport goods and products by rail,” said Tang Jie, Logistics Expert and owner of Shenzhen Hongtu Ruida International Trade Co., Ltd.
“As for the second challenge, we already have a fairly developed railway network today, and now many deliveries go directly from China to Russia in about 7-8 days,” he said.
