A round table titled “Russia-China Interregional Cooperation: The Case of the Republic of Tatarstan” was held at the SPROUTS Forum. There, representatives of Chinese companies discussed potential projects and the launch of new production facilities.
For instance, the Russian-Chinese company LLC VEZUMA Scientific and Production Center intends to implement two investment projects in Tatarstan. The first plant for the production of spark plugs will open by the end of September in the Alabuga Special Economic Zone.
The second plant is expected to be on the territory of the Laishevo Industrial Park in the Innopolis Special Economic Zone. The investment project is the Production of Technical Ceramics and Spark Plug Shells. This involves ultra-durable technical ceramics, the main application of which is the manufacture of automotive spark plug insulators. The investments in the project will amount to about 1.5 billion rubles.
The round table presented the entire range of sectors in which Chinese companies operate. Now, Tatarstan has to decide what Tatarstan needs, noted Oleg Korobchenko, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic. According to him, Tatarstan and China have a large portfolio of developments.
Last year, the trade turnover between the republic and China reached $3.3 billion, a 10% increase year-on-year.
“Compared to 2023, our exports have grown significantly, and imports have decreased. This indicates that our enterprises substitute the once-imported goods by those we produce ourselves, thanks to our ‘partners’ – Western countries, which created these conditions by imposing sanctions. We have started working and earning. Cooperation with China is growing, and export begins to prevail,” stated Korobchenko.
