A specialised panel session entitled “The Legal Bridge: Harmonising Forensic Standards as a Foundation of Trust in Russia-China Trade and Economic Cooperation” will be held as part of the IV International Forum “SPROUTS: Russia and China – Mutually Beneficial Cooperation”, taking place in Kazan from 16 to 19 August 2026. The session is organised by the Expert Council, the Interregional Public Organisation for the Promotion and Development of Expert Activities.
Against the backdrop of record growth in Russia-China trade and the increasing number of joint investment projects, legal protection for businesses has become one of the key pillars of sustainable bilateral cooperation. Participants will discuss mechanisms for aligning Russian and Chinese forensic standards, which play a crucial role in resolving commercial, financial, construction and technical disputes.
The session will bring together Oksana Voloshina, Director General of the Expert Council, representatives of the Directorate of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Tatarstan, leading legal professionals, forensic experts, academics, university representatives, and members of the Russian and Chinese business communities. Experts will examine the differences between the two countries' forensic methodologies and develop proposals aimed at creating a more transparent and predictable legal environment for international business.
A key practical outcome of the session will be the development of a roadmap for the harmonisation and mutual recognition of forensic methodologies in Russia and China. Participants will also discuss the establishment of a permanent expert consortium, the preparation of recommendations to help businesses minimise legal risks in cross-border projects, and the launch of joint educational and certification programmes for Russian and Chinese specialists.
“Bringing forensic standards to a common denominator will create conditions in which Russian and Chinese businesses can be confident that disputes will be resolved fairly and according to clear, mutually understood rules. I am convinced that aligning forensic principles will further strengthen Russia-China relations, reduce economic risks, and create a more favourable environment for business,” said Rustem Zagidullin, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The outcomes of the session are expected to strengthen trust between the business communities of both countries, enhance the investment attractiveness of joint projects, and contribute to the development of new legal mechanisms supporting Russia-China economic cooperation.
“Russia-China trade and economic relations have entered a stage of deep institutional integration. We have moved beyond the simple exchange of goods towards establishing joint production facilities and cross-border hubs. Under these circumstances, forensic expertise is no longer merely a legal instrument - it has become the foundation of trust between businesses and governments. Our objective at the International Forum ‘SPROUTS’ is to eliminate methodological barriers. Harmonised forensic standards will provide investors from both countries with equal, transparent and predictable legal protection. We are building a ‘Legal Bridge’, without which long-term and secure partnership is impossible,” said Oksana Voloshina, Director General of the Expert Council.
