The Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Chinese President Xi Jinping met in the framework of the BRICS summit in the Kazan Kremlin. The leaders discussed current relations between the countries and key areas of cooperation.
Vladimir Putin noted that trade and joint projects in transportation, energy, agriculture and other sectors are now successfully developing between the countries.
"In January-August, trade turnover, according to our data, increased by 4.5%. [...] Russia and China, despite the negative external impact, maintain the dynamics of economic growth, economic interaction," Vladimir Putin said.
Xi Jinping also emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation within the framework of the One Belt One Road initiative and the EAEU for the qualitative development of the economies of both countries.
For example, a new logistics center named after Deng Xiaoping was opened in Tatarstan for cargo transportation between China and the Volga Federal District. The One Belt, One Road container terminal is planned to be launched this autumn.
In addition, sports and educational exchanges are actively developing, with more than 400 events planned in the framework of the cross cultural years, including the Russia-China forum on November 13-15 in Kazan.
