Currently, Russians can visit China without a visa only as part of tourist groups. According to the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, 360,000 people took advantage of this opportunity over the year.
Analysts note that the cancellation of the visa requirements is the next logical step within the RussianChinese strategic partnership.
The elimination of visas between Russia and China will serve as an important step towards closer integration of the two countries. Simplifying the movement of citizens will not only strengthen economic and cultural ties, but also emphasise the special nature of Moscow and Beijing relations.
