A series of events within the Sino-Russian cultural exchange has begun in the city of Changchun (the capital of Jilin Province, Northeast China), which will last until December 2026, as reported by the “Zhongguo Xinwen She” Chinese news agency.
The programme will include sports competitions, art projects, cultural heritage exploration, and educational tours to rural areas.
The launching point was a sport climbing event on 13 June at the Changchun University of Science and Technology, which gathered nearly 50 teenagers from China and Russia. The half-year programme aims to strengthen ties between the two countries’ youth and open new opportunities for cultural dialogue.
The following events are planned for the coming months: the second Sino-Russian youth wushu exchange event in the Changbai Mountains region, the second Sino-Russian youth football tournament in the border city of Hunchun, dance exchanges involving Russian youth in Yanji, a Sino-Russian cultural exchange week in Shulan, and the second Sino-Russian fruit harvest festival in Shuangyang District, Changchun.
New Year’s Eve celebrations featuring representatives from China and Russia will become a culminating point of the programme. They will be held simultaneously in Changchun, Yanji, and Hunchun, as well as in the picturesque Changbai Mountains region, on the eve of the holiday.
