China intends to extend the visa-free regime for citizens of Russia for an additional year—until mid-September 2027. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia following negotiations with the Chinese side.
“Our partners have already informed us of their readiness to extend the visa-free regime for Russian citizens for another year. Together with them, we are working on the modalities for maintaining the current framework for mutual travel,” the Ministry stated.
At present, Russian citizens are permitted to stay in China for up to 30 days without a visa using a standard international passport. The current pilot scheme is set to expire on 14 September 2026. In turn, Russia has introduced reciprocal measures for Chinese citizens, granting visa-free entry starting from 1 December 2025.
