China's trade volume with Russia totaled $180.35 billion

The volume of trade between China and Russia in the first three quarters of 2024 reached $180.35 billion, up 2% year-on-year. This was reported by the General Administration of Customs (GAC) of the PRC.

According to the published data, imports of Russian goods to China for January - September increased by 1.7%, to $97.2 billion. Exports of Chinese products to Russia increased by 2.4%, to about $83.15 billion. The positive balance of the Russian side compared to the same period of 2023 increased by 3.6%, to $14.05 billion.

As follows from the published statistics, the trade turnover between China and Russia in September was roughly at the level of August, amounting to $21.8 billion. Imports from the Russian Federation to China fell by 7.5% (to $10.56 billion) on a month-on-month basis. In contrast, the flow of Chinese goods in the opposite direction increased by 9.5%, to $11.24 billion.

The bulk of goods imported by China from Russia are energy carriers - oil, natural gas and coal. Other key imports include copper and copper ore, timber, fuel and seafood. China exports to Russia a wide range of products - cars, tractors, computers, smartphones, industrial and specialized equipment, toys, shoes, air conditioners and computers.
