The SPROUTS Forum will host the first Russian-Chinese symposium on healthcare technologies

The fourth International Forum “SPROUTS: Russia and China – Mutually Beneficial Cooperation”, which will take place in Kazan on 16-19 August, 2026, will host the first-ever Scientific and Business Symposium “Russia-China: Technologies for Healthcare”. This event will bring together representatives of government, medical community, science, high-tech businesses, and medical equipment manufacturers from both countries to discuss the future of modern medicine and the development of technological sovereignty in healthcare.
“Public healthcare is an absolute priority for both Russia and China. Our shared goal is to lay a solid foundation for the advanced development of future medicine for the benefit of the citizens of both countries. In this context, the SPROUTS Forum serves as a crucial communication platform. Our countries rely on a strong high-tech scientific base and possess their own breakthrough solutions. It is the intensive exchange of cutting-edge clinical and scientific experience that will allow us to strengthen the resilience of our healthcare systems and significantly improve the quality of medical care,” emphasised Almir Abashev, Minister of Health of the Republic of Tatarstan.
Today, healthcare is one of the most knowledge-intensive industries of the economy and a key driver of innovation. The development of high-tech medical care is impossible without the introduction of new diagnostic and treatment methods, modern medical devices, digital solutions, and artificial intelligence technologies. The symposium will serve as a platform for exchanging Russian and Chinese experience, identifying promising technological solutions, and developing new cooperation projects.
Participants will focus on the development of surgical care, localisation of medical equipment and consumables production, the implementation of domestic developments in clinical practice, and the application of artificial intelligence in healthcare. The programme includes high-level round-table discussions, technology sessions featuring Russian and Chinese experts, demonstrations of innovative solutions, business meetings between manufacturers and medical organisations, as well as signing of cooperation agreements. A round-table discussion on “Artificial Intelligence in Russian Healthcare” will become one of the central events. It will present practical cases of AI use in diagnostics, treatment, patient monitoring, and medical facilities management. Special attention will be paid to the prospects for scaling up domestic technologies and developing cooperation with international partners.
The practical significance of the symposium is in the formation of new industrial and scientific collaborations, expanding opportunities for import substitution in the medical industry, attracting investment in the development of domestic technologies, and accelerating the implementation of innovative solutions in the Russian healthcare system. The outcomes are expected to result in new partnership projects, cooperation agreements, and specific initiatives for the development of medical technologies.
