Tatar Opera and Ballet Theatre Named After Musa Jalil Concludes Tour in China

The *Tatar Opera and Ballet Theatre named after Musa Jalil* has successfully completed its tour in the People’s Republic of China. The troupe performed 14 shows in major Chinese cities, and the New Year was celebrated in Shanghai. This marks the theatre’s first tour in China, which took place at the end of 2024, according to the institution’s press service.

This season, the theatre’s leading soloists — Kristina Zakharova, Amanda Gomes, Oleg Ivenko, Wagner Carvalho, Mikhail Timayev, and Anton Polodyuk — presented such masterpieces as *“Swan Lake”* and *“The Nutcracker”* by P. Tchaikovsky, as well as L. Minkus’s ballet *“Don Quixote”*. In total, nearly 120 people travelled as part of the tour, including the ballet company, symphony orchestra, technical crew, and support staff.

“China is remarkable for absorbing everything of the highest quality in recent decades. The connection with Russian culture is a priority here. Works created in 19th-century Russia form the basis for the perception of our art and the fusion of symphonic and ballet genres,”* noted the theatre’s chief conductor, Andrey Anikhanov.
