The Tretyakov Gallery and the Hong Kong Palace Museum signed a Memorandum on Co-operation and Development of Cultural Ties between the two countries in the field of preservation, study, and promotion of cultural heritage within the framework of the Cultural Cross Years of Russia and China. The main result of such agreement will be a large-scale exhibition, which will open in October 2026 and will present unique works of Russian culture to the guests of the Palace Museum.

The exposition will include about 70 masterpieces of Russian icon painting and decorative and applied arts, as well as rare handwritten books of the XV-XIX centuries.

Each exhibit will be accompanied by video commentaries showcasing its historical significance.

In addition, a restoration laboratory will be created with the help of M+, Hong Kong Museum of Modern Art, to improve the skills of specialists striving to work with new media.
